The company was acquired by Ashland in the early Eighties with many stations becoming Superamerica. The Minnesota-based North Star is unrelated to the Canadian company using the North Star name in the western provinces of Canada. |

This North Star company marketed in the western plains provinces of Canada and was unrelated to the United States company marketing in the U. S. upper midwest using the same name. |
